Spain has long been one of the most magical and passionate European destinations. Contrary to popular belief you’ll find some of the most peaceful isolated retreats and a fiery passion for life perfect for a honeymoon.

Andalucía is the most southerly region where tapas, flamenco and the guitar where born. Here you’ll find some of the most pristine beaches in the country as well as some spectacular relics of Spain’s Islamic past. If you’re looking for magnificent landscapes, Andalucía is home to the highest mountain range on the Spanish mainland, the Sierra Nevada.

In contrast to Spain’s busy tourist industry one fifth of Andalucía is environmentally protected. And, nestled in the emerald green hills you’ll find shimmering white villages and a renowned, friendly welcome. Here’s where you’ll find the most fun loving and vivacious people in Spain.

Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia here you’ll find a rich medieval tapestry of architecture to match the cities zest for life. But do take a trip out of the bustle of Barcelona to Girona. Its impressive Romanesque and Gothic buildings are a must if you want to soak up the history of this region.

Barcelona has the most concentrated collection of Gothic architecture in Europe and Gaudi’s Sagrada Família is a must for every tourist. Catalonian cuisine is equally impressive and there are a host of exceptional restaurants to choose from as well as some luxury hotels.

Whilst you’re there, take a day trip to the Montserrat Royal Basilica. At 1pm, on most week days, you’ll get the chance to hear Europe’s oldest children’s choir and see the famous Virgen Moroneta, the Black Virgin.

If it’s romantic memories you’re looking for Spain is definitely the place for your honeymoon.
